She completed her graduation and post-graduation (MS ophthalmology) from the prestigious Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi and then underwent 3 years training in vitreo-retina (senior residency) at Guru Nanak Eye Centre, Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi. She is a Diplomate of the National Board of Examinations (DNB), a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS), Glasgow, UK and member national academy of medical sciences (MNAMS). She has worked as vitreo-retina and uvea consultant and in-charge electrophysiology services at ICARE eye hospital and postgraduate institute, NOIDA, U.P for 7 years.
Her areas of interest include diabetic retinopathy, age related macular degeneration (ARMD), retinal vascular occlusions (RVO) and other medical retinal disorders, which may require laser therapy, photodynamic therapy (PDT) and/or intravitreal injections. She is proficient in micro incision vitrectomy surgery (MIVS) for various indications including complex retinal detachment (RD), vitreous hemorrhage, advanced diabetic eye disease, macular hole, epiretinal membrane (ERM), intraocular foreign bodies and endophthalmitis. She also specializes in scleral fixated IOLs (SFIOL), including foldable SFIOL (Akreos), for which her technique has been published in “Eye” journal.
She has a keen interest in academics with over 100 publications in various journals (78 indexed publications) and over 180 citations (ref: google scholar). She has presented over 90 papers at various state level, national and international conferences. She is the co-author of “Handbook of clinical trials in ophthalmology” (Jaypee brothers medical publishers (P) Ltd. 2013) and has authored several chapters in books. She is currently Assistant editor, research methodology and clinical research, innovation and translational research of Indian journal of Ophthlamology and was the assistant editor of Delhi Journal of Ophthalmology from 2015-2017. She also serves as reviewer for several international journals. She has received numerous awards, including “Young Researcher’s (PG) Award” for thesis from All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS) in 2011, Dr. A.C. Agarwal trophy and Dr. H. S. Trehan trophy from the Delhi Ophthalmological Society (DOS) in 2010, 2011 and 2012, Best Paper Award at Joint Meeting of Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology and AIOS in 2013.
